Our department specializes in ICU, intermediate care, medical surgical and pediatrics. The average length of stay is 1.2 days, so patients turnover quickly on this unit. The majority of patients are tourists and are dealing with the stress of injury while on vacation. We all have a variety of duties and wear multiple hats as we are a small hospital. We treat a wide variety of patients and are the only inpatient department in the hospital, so all patients come to this floor. We sometimes receive overflow for LDRP and we take care of postpartum moms and babies. Our team has an amazing culture of teamwork, high patient satisfaction and sees a variety of patients. Census changes rapidly on the floor if ICU patients come in, so we are flexible.
