The Cancer Center Social Worker participates as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team with responsibility for patient assessment, supportive counseling and referrals to community resources. Responsibilities include utilizing an assessment tool to determine the patient’s level of stress, providing counseling to patients and families with an emphasis on adjustment to diagnosis and treatment and planning and facilitating cancer support groups and classes. The Oncology Social Worker works closely with oncology physicians and other oncology staff in assisting patients with decision making, understanding treatment options, and communicating with the medical staff. The Oncology Social Worker has an intricate knowledge of appropriate psychosocial interventions to assist patient and families throughout the cancer continuum by helping them navigate an initial cancer diagnosis, treatment side effects, end-of-treatment concerns, recurrence, end-of-life issues and bereavement.

OSW-C recommended after 3 years of oncology experience
Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
This social worker will work in the cancer center Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. There are no weekends or call. This role also has holidays off.
